For the 2021 CONMEBOL Libertadores Final, Mastercard and Francis Mallmann reimagined the essence of victory. The ten kilos of the Libertadores trophy weren’t just made of metal—they were made of stories, heart, and passion. In a tribute to the soul of local gastronomy, we transformed that weight of glory into dishes that spoke of neighborhood “bodegones”, where tradition, love, and flavors are passed down through generations. We specifically chose restaurants that had suffered immensely during the pandemic, where stadiums were closed, and these restaurants—situated next to the stadiums—relied on these big events to survive. Two chefs took the pitch at Centenario, honoring those who never stopped cooking with passion. Because some trophies are lifted, others are served.
